Colegio Superior de Señoritas (San José)

Costa Rica / San Jose / San José / Calle 3ª

This prestigious girl's school was founded in 1888, and was one of the first in a series of institutions implemented by the government to help make higher education more available. Its stern neoclassical façade is a local monument, representative of the architectural style favored for the public works projects of the time; the building itself was completed in 1892. This building and the neighboring Vitalia Madrigal School were declared a national heritage site on July 11, 1988.
