No land mass is there and only thick sheet of Ice. Located and discovered by Peary in 1909. The most northerly parts of Europe, North America, and Asia encircle the ice-covered Arctic Ocean. Very few people live in the often freezing conditions. Those who do include the sami of North Scandinavia, the Siberian Yugyt and Nenet people, and the Canadian Inuit. Many of these lead a nomadic way of life, hunting and herding, even today. However some have now settled in towns.
