The October Palace is officially known as the International Center of Culture and Arts of the Trade Union Federation of Ukraine ('October Palace' is used for brevity). Now it is a concert venue.

The building was constructed in 1838-1842 upon the design of architect Vikentii Beretti as the first female higher educational organization in Kyiv - Institute for Noble Maidens.
It gave the name to the Institutska Street, where it was located.
After 1917 the building was used by the government for different organizations, since 1934 here located Kyiv's NKVD (later known as the KGB).

The building was almost completely destroyed in the Second World War.
Since 24.12.1957, after it was renovated and named as the October Palace of Culture, it was used primarily as a concert stage.
