The 25th garrison house of officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a cultural institution that meets the spiritual and cultural needs of servicemen, military servicemen under contract, ATO participants, military veterans, members of the Armed Forces, members of their families and residents of Zhytomyr.
History of the institution:
This building is a historical monument and protected by the state.
The structure was built back in the nineteenth century. She belonged to the wife of the Kremenchuk merchant of the 1st Guild of Mary Abramovna Herman. Later on July 14, 1872, he was acquired by the Volyn school of the girls of the spiritual department. At the school there was a house church, the introduction to the temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the stormy years at the beginning of the 20th century (in June-July 1919) a school of red commanders was placed in the premises. The history of this institution began on August 26, 1944, when after the liberation of Zhytomyr region from a fascist invasion, the Zhitomir garrison House of officers was formed in the regional center - now 25 GBO.
In the 1960s, the Museum of Military Glory was created, one of its founders and the first director was F. I. Lipis. In 1976, by the decision of the Collegium of the Ministry of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR, the museum was awarded the honorary title People.
In different years, the People's Theater, the military-scientific society, the University of Marxism-Leninism, evening and musical schools, the film distribution center and other subdivisions, which provided various activities that took place in the garrison, were at its base.
Present:
Today, in the 25th garrison house of officers there is a course network, veteran and public organizations, the choir of veterans of war and labor, a library, sports and dance halls. Our institution faces difficult tasks - to bring to the hearts of servicemen and citizens the best achievements of world and Ukrainian culture, to organize leisure activities of servicemen and their families, to work on military patriotic upbringing of the younger generation, to preserve the memory of the heroic past and present countries and traditions older generations.

Library
The library with 25 GBO numbers more than 30 thousand copies of books from different fields of knowledge. Her collections contain rare editions of works from the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. Particular attention is paid to updating the book fund and constantly functioning book exhibitions with modern Ukrainian literature and materials of periodicals, in accordance with the requirements of the present time.
