Anbyon County (Anbyŏn-gun), Kangwon Province, DPRK.
Anbyon County was first settled by the Koguryo kingdom, and was later overtaken by the Koryo dynasty. During the Choson (Yi) dynasty, it was part of Hamgyong County, and held a strategic importance due to its location. After the division of Korea, Anbyon was annexed into Kangwon along with Wonsan to enlarge the North Korean portion of the province.
