Monte Chingolo is a town of Lanus (south of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina). Its origin dates back to a salting founded by Juan Manuel de Rosas on 23 November 1815.

The most famous historical event happened in 1975. On 23 December the People's Revolutionary Army, a Guevarist revolutionary group tried to seize up the 601 Battalion of the Argentine Army Arsenals' "General Domingo Viejobueno", to seize weapons with which to continue the guerrilla in the Tucuman province. In the clash died a hundred people, over half of whom were members of the ERP, which turn out broken.

Monte Chingolo was in 2001 the second most populous city of the 'partido' with 85,060 inhabitants (INDEC, 2001), which represents 19% of the total lanús partido habitants.
