The Verkhnetazovskiy Rreserve is created for the protection of the unique ecosystems of unviolated northern taiga in the upper reaches of basin located under the threat of disappearance - the second largest river of West Siberia. The territory of preserve is important for the protection of the reduced population of taiga reindeer, it is promising for the reacclimatization of the sosvinskogo beaver.
