Oxia , is a very old village of Prespa with remarkable houses. It is located east of Lake Mikri Prespa, at the foot of Virmpa mountain at an altitude of 880m. In Oxia it was the seat of Moudiri of Lower Prespa. From the ancient years in the neck that is forming from the geomorphology soil, an important branch of the Egnatia Street- which was in operation until 1880 - passed from here. The ancient road was called in Arvanite dialect Oudde trailer (road of wolves) that mean probability Street lynxes. In Oxia , It was the headquarters of the Artillery Unit of the TER during the civil war. Near the village it was the Artillery School. The shooting range was 150-200 meters from the headquarters and billeting of the School. In the begginning of 1949 , in January , in Oxia , It was the seat of saboteur of the General Headquarters. The Brigade saboteurs had a force of about 500 fighters. In the central square many speeches and celebrations with songs took place.
