Texas State Highway 21
Texas State Highway 21 is 272 miles long. It begins at SH 87 in Milam near the Texas-Louisiana border. It used to end at the border, but that portion was transferred to a Forest Service Road. SH 21 crosses US 96 in San Augustine, then passes through Nacogdoches and on to US 69 in Alto. It continues southwest through Crockett and crosses Interstate 45 near Madisonville where it joins US 190. In Bryan SH 21 goes off on its own again and crosses SH 36 in Caldwell. Continuing southwest, SH 21 crosses US 77 and US 290 on its way to Bastrop. It joins SH 71 for a few miles, then after splitting from SH 71, SH 21 crosses US 183 and ends at SH 80 near San Marcos.
