An old historical Paliwal village about 1000 years old.The word LANELA means "Lavanya Illa" that's mean "The Land with Beauty".
This is the village where late shree Dayaram das Vaishnav was born. He fought for poor farmers against powerful samantas (the land lords). He was sarvoday's leader. He was dedicated for khadi and gram vikas.He also fought against social bed habits like smoking drinking and taking opium and castism. Jaisalmer Khadi Gramodaya parishad launched a place named as "Dayaram Maharaj Smritee Hall" in the memory of him. He fought for poor people of villages, He was famous for lead the Lanela- "Kisaan Andolan" with accompany of late Shree Manikya Lal Verma,Shree Bhagwan Das Maheshwari,late Shree Tara Chand Jagani and Shree Gordhan Kalla,(MLA of Jaisalmer -2004-2009) in 1958-63.Lanela was the first Gramdani village of Jaisalmer district which was created by afforts of let shree Dayaram Das Vaishnav. He was first President of Gramdani village Panchayat.
Mr. Rawta Ram Panwar of this village is District Chairman of Indian National Congress.
Mrs. Vimla Vaishnav of this village is former chairperson of Jaisalmer Municipal Board and member of state council of B.J.P. Mahila Morcha is daughter in law of late Shree Dayaram Das Vaishnav.
Mr.Thirpal das is first gazatted officer of this village is son of Shree Dayaram Das Vaishnav.
Jayram das, Bhojraj vaishnav are headmaster in different schools.
Dr.Kamlesh Vaishnav is first PHD of Bioteachnology who is working as a scientist in a pharmaceutical company at Indore (M.P.).
Dr. Deepak Vaishnav is first doctor of this village who got first place in secondary and higher secondary exams in Jaisalmer district. He was acheive third position in Rajasthan Pre Medical Examination in 2005 and 29th rank in all india DNB Examination 2011. Now he is resident doctor of Peadiatric branch in BR Singh Railway Hospital & Medical Education & Research Center Kolkata.Dr. Kamlesh and Dr. Deepak are grand son of Shree Dayaram Das Vaishnav.
Late Shree Magha Ram ,late Shree Mobta Ram (Mohabbat Puri), was the great sant of this village.
Here is a big Ramdev Temple and an old Krishan Mandir.
