Merambong Island is located in Strait of Johor and it is one of the most southern island belong to Malaysia. The island is unhabited but suitable as picnic areas and fishing. A number of old cemeteries could be found on the island. There is a lighthouse belongs to the government, radiation monitoring stations belonging to the AELB and benchmark measurement by the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia. Minerals and Geoscience Department Johor has conducted systematic geological mapping on the island in 2014.
