The White Plains was the 4th member of the Mars Class of Combat Stores Ships and served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1995 and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, having served on 5 separate deployments to the theatre.
Decommissioned earlier than her sisters as a result of damaged received when she grounded at Guam during a typhoon, she was placed into the Pearl Harbor NISMF in reserve until she was sunk here as a target on July 8th, 2002 in 2,570 fathoms.
