Well into 1923, elaborate formal gardens were designed by Diego Suarez. The home's inspiration was Villa Rezzonico designed by Baldassarre Longhena at Bassano del Grappa in northern Italy.
It is now adaptively reused as a popular museum owned by Miami-Dade County and governed by the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens Trust.
