On this ghat of river Narmada, a large number of temples and stone-ghats were contructed exclusively by the Beohar clan - the ex-Jagirdars (pre-1947) of Jabalpur. Beohar family's residences are well known landmarks in Jabalpur - Beohar Haveli near Hanumantal and Beohar House in Beohar Bagh. Beohar temple-complex at Lamhetaghat include the sun-temple, shaiv(shiv)-temple, hanuman-temple, ramjanki-temple, shakti-temple, and many more. Historically, the last rites of the members of the Beohar family used to be carried out here. Beohar Kehari Sinha protected these temples from the invading army of Ameer Khan (a Pindari chief of Tonk) in 1774 and again in 1809 C.E. Subsequently, the complex have been maintained by the later generations including his son Beohar Daryao Sinha and then Beohar Gandharv Sinha, Beohar Nripat Sinha, Beohar Raghuvir Sinha, Beohar Rajendra Sinha, and so on. In November 2007, internationally acclaimed artist Beohar Ram Manohar Sinha's last rites were performed here by his grandson Beohar Adwait Sinha (Canada).
