The masterpiece of Russian church architecture is supposed to be an highest point of Yaroslavl school of architecture.
The church was constructed by inhabitants of Tolchkov sloboda at 1671-1687. It is the single church with 15 domes at old Russina architecture. Internal fresco painting was performed at 1695-96 by team leaded by Fedor Ignatiev and Dmitri Plehanov. More than 500 different scenes were painted at 9 stages of fresco. Separate tower bell was build at 1690.
The church was closed at 1929-1931.
The church was places at banknote of 1000 rubles at 2001.
