  • The actual area of the temple is only this much. The large box now tagged 'Temple' is enclosing even the Girls' school -may be edited pl.
  • I think that this temple has been tagged properly now. I remember that there was a kitchen in this area where the daily food for the deity used to be cooked and then offered at noon. I guess that this tradition is still being continued. There was an open well in this area. When I was young I heard that a little boy was drowned in this well when he was chased by the peacocks that used to live in this compound. After that the well had been covered all the time. When I was a student in Bero school I never saw peacocks there. There is lots of open space around this temple.
  • It is interesting to know that J. Tatachari had named the deity as Radha Keshav and Shyam had named it as Sri Sri Ishwar Kesav Roy Jew Thakur. I had always known this temple as Keshavnath Temple. I am curious to know when this temple was built and by whom and of course, the proper name of the deity.
  • I also heard the story of the boy and the peacock. Peacocks are not found in that area. Could it be a pet peacock bought by the Mohanta s of the temple? The well is behind the big temple (there are two of them side by side). The location of the well in this map will be at the N W corner in the box. The temple kitchen is behind the well. A large no. of festivals used to be conducted in the temple round the year. The Mahanto (Trustee-- reffered as SEVAIT in documents) was controlling the Zamindari of fifty seven and a half villages. These were gifted by the Raja of Kasipur as Devottar ( Temple property in the name of the Deity). J. Narayan whom Anai has reffered as his class mate belongs to the mahanto family and stays in Canada.
  • ok...then can I know who is Mr.Srinivas acharya Goswami?...and of course about Mr.Raghupati???
  • Srinivas and Raghupati are sons of Jagannath Acharya goswami and brothers of my classfriend Narayan. As far as I remember they had a sister, Saraswati, too.
