Burg Katz (Castle Katz)

Burg Katz, perched on a ledge overlooking the Rhine, was first built around 1371 by Count Wilhelm II of Katzenelnbogen. The castle was bombarded in 1806 and rebuilt between 1896-98. Because of its name, Burg Katz (Cat Castle) is popularly linked with Burg Maus (Mouse Castle), located 3km downstream/northwest.
