The Ernst-Happel-Stadion is the largest football stadium in Austria. It was constructed from 1929 to 1931 for the second Workers' Olympiad to the design of Otto Ernest Schweizer. Originally named Praterstadion, it was renamed in honour of Ernst Happel following his death in 1992. It also served as a Holocaust prison during World War II. It is the home of the Austrian national football team, and its current all-seater capacity is 50,865.

The stadium originally had a capacity of 60,000 in two tiers of seating. A third tier was added in 1956, increasing capacity to 90,000. Capacity was reduced to 70,000 in 1965. From 1984 to 1986, the stadium became an all-seater with a capacity of 50,000 and a roof was added.

Ernst-Happel-Stadion hosted the 1938 European Athletics Championships, the European Cup Final in 1964, 1987, and 1990, the UEFA Champions League Final in 1995, the 1970 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final, the 1995 European Aquatics Championships, seven matches (including the final) of UEFA Euro 2008, and the final of the 2011 IFAF World Championship.
