  Photo's taken 1979 during the war. Note the tent on top. During the war the water tower was guarded round the clock. The tower forms part of an intricate water system feeding Ovamboland and beyond. In addition, thje soldiers were also expected to report suspicious movement across the border - only about 100m away. In the absense of high ground this was the only raised object for many miles around, the view from the top was therefore excellent for military observation.
