"Rynwood was built for Sir Samuel A. Salvage, president of the American Viscose Corporation, best known for developing rayon fabric. It was designed by Roger H. Bullard in 1927 in the Elizabethan style and built by Jacob & Youngs. Structural elements were provided by the Guastavino Fireproof Tile Co. Shortly after being built, the estate was featured in "The Architectural Forum" on July 1930; page 55. Ironwork was fabricated by Samuel Yellin.

It was later owned by Frederick William Irving Lundy {restauranteur}. Lundy served as a founder of Lundy Brothers Resturaunt of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Lundy later lived at "Elm Point" in Kings Point. The estate was acquired by Banfi Vintners in 1980 and restored the home and now operates the only vineyard in Nassau County.
