This memorial commemorates 6 young men who were executed on this location on 8 September 1944. A seventh person survived the shots but remained mantally and physically disabled for the rest of his life.
The men had fled from the Vledder Labour Camp. They were immediately shot after they were found by the German Sicherheitsdienst.
