The control room of Reactor Unit 3 was a vital component of the system that managed the reactor's key technological processes.

It featured schematic panels, instruments for monitoring equipment parameters, and signaling and automation systems. Operators could monitor the reactor's systems in real time and take necessary actions to ensure safe operation.

The control room remained operational until December 15, 2000, when it was decommissioned. It was from this room that the AZ-5 button was turned, permanently shutting down Reactor Unit 3 and ceasing electricity generation at the Chernobyl NPP.

Until 2022, the control room of Unit 3 was included in guided tours, providing specialists and visitors with insights into the history and technical aspects of the Chernobyl NPP. Original control panels, instruments, and equipment used during the reactor's operational period were preserved in the room.
