Ahu Ature Huke

This ahu is located by a side of ahu Nau-Nau in front of Anakena beach. Its unique lonely moai was Iifted bya group of the community, led by Mr. Lazaro Hotus and Pedro Atan, the mayor, together with the Norwegian expedition of Thor Hayerdahl in 1956.

The team had the purpose of showing the explorers how moai were lifted on the ahu, according to the old technics of Rapa Nui people and still how their descendants could do it. It is a small ahu, with a lonely moai of 6 m. high and 2 or 3 m. wide. This ahu is also constructed on another former ahu.
