The site of the former Abbey National headquarters (until 2002).
Only the facade of the 1920s building and its open clock tower are original (designed by J.J. Joass). Behind the facade and on either side of it, a new residental building has been erected in 2008.
The site covers the address of 221B Baker Street, the fictional home of Sherlock Holmes. However, the address only came into existence when Baker Street was extended to the north in 1930, long after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books were written.
