Poma village is named after Pam river which is famous for picnic spot, fresh water fishes, swimming and white water rafting etc. The village is surrounded by green mountain from four corners. The village comes under Itanagar Wild life Sanctuary which makes it a hot spot for ecotourism activities. Poma village is designated as one of the model village by Government of Arunachal Pradesh but the village is still lack of modern infrastructures. With the intervention of former Governor Ld. JJ singh, a Bamboo Craft processing centre has been established at Poma. The Bambo industry offers hand made bamboo crafts and may artifacts items which are available to purchase by visitors. The industry is being operated by Ajin Anna Society under the Chairpersonship of Smt Techi Anna former ASM, Poma Panchayat.
This village comes under papum pare dist. of Arunachal Pradesh, and is located at around 12 km from Itanagar. Famous ganga lake and zoological park come on the way to this village. The village natural resources are protected under the Poma Panchayat Rules & Regulation 2021 which prohibits the outsider from fishing, hunting, felling trees & collection of raw materials and random picnicking in river etc. Keeping in view of environment protection, even the local are restricted for some activities such as fishing & hunting using modern equipment's, selling of timber etc. Due to rapid urbanization and population growth in Itanagar Capital Region, the State Govt is slowly shifting capital project into Poma-Jote area. As such, institute like NIT, Govt. Law College, Film & Television Institute, Women College and other Govt. institutes are being developed in this region with such potential growth scopes Poma village is also witnessing the large flow of tourists especially eco-tourist. The locals are now tuning more towards on eco-tourism projects for more and more tourists attraction. There are some historic places such as Raharath Stone, Mig-Mir Hole, Bema Waterfall, Bolo Sel and Tanga Lake which are yet to facilitated for tourist visits. The village is now anticipated to have eco-tourism park, tourist lodge, water park, tourist porter tracks etc. The Poma is 100% Christian village, there are 3 denomination churches i.e Poma Baptish Church established in 1978, Poma Lutheran Church and Rivival Church, Moin. The village is inhabited by tribal Abotani Nyishi clans like Techi, Tayum, Tacha, Weyo, Tad, Tem, Kino, Tok and Nabam. Shri Tacha Markha' is the head of the village who is referred as 'sage' of the poma panchayat.
