Weeton Barracks is set in the countryside of Lancashire, 1 mile from Weeton village and only 8 miles from the busy tourist town of Blackpool. Weeton Barracks at present is home to the 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) and the Band of the Kings Division who are stationed here permanently.

The Barracks are divided into two parts. One being the actual Camp with only authorized access, which houses living accommodation for single and unaccompanied soldiers, messes, NAAFI/Junior Ranks Club, gym, ALC and of course all working departments. The other half housing the married quarters, Primary School, Crèche, Pre-School, Spar Shop with Post Office and Cash Machine, Families Complex, Medical and Dental Centre (for serving personnel only), the Community Centre and the HIVE.

2nd Battalion Duke of Lancashire's Own Regiment

The 2nd Battalion (2 LANCS) is a Regular Army battalion. It role is a Light Role Battalion trained and equipped for fast, flexible operations, moving in a variety of transport including helicopters. From August 2009 until November 2010, the 2nd Battalion carried out high intensity operations in Afghanistan as the Theatre Reserve Battalion.

The 2nd Battalion was based was based in Episkopi in Cyprus and from there has deployed regularly to Afghanistan, however, after completing the longest operational tour in contemporary history is was transferred back into these Barracks on 23rd August 2011

2nd. Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment
"The Green Howard's"

2 YORKS is a Light Infantry roled Battalion. It operates with minimal transport and sometimes almost entirely on foot. It is equipped with the full range of small arms, mortars, anti tank weaponry and surveillance equipment, and is a versatile organisation that can work in support of Armoured and Mechanised brigades to dominate urban areas or control mountainous terrain, deserts, forests and jungles.

The Band of the King's Division

The Band of the King's Division was formed on 12 May 2006 as result of the restructuring of Army Bands in 2006.

As the only Army military band based in the North West they are ideally located to support events in that part of the UK but indeed can and do travel worldwide in support the Armed Forces and civilian events.
