'''Ashcombe House''' was the country residence of American singer Madonna. In a controversial dispute with local walkers, Madonna tried to have a public right-of-way across open countryside re-routed, citing loss of privacy and risks from stalkers. The singer was also been in dispute with the General Aviation community, complaining of the nuisance of noise caused by light aircraft using the nearby Compton Abbas airfield. An attempt by Madonna to buy and close the airfield was not successful.

Comments

  • Was also previously owned by Peter Gabriel who recorded some albums there including 'So'
  • Peter Gabriel did not own this house. I live over the downs(hills) from Madonna and the previous entry is based on malicious gossip. The old right of way went right past her house. If the property was mine I would object as well. Her estate is significant with plenty of space to roam . Have a heart and live in peace.
  • Peter Gabriel's (former) 25-acre estate, of the same name, is in Somerset, not far from Bath.
