Oleshky is the administrative center of the Oleshky Urban Hromada (community) in the Kherson Raion (district) of the Kherson Oblast (region) of Ukraine.

Founded as a settlement: 1784
Town status since: 1802
Population: 24,124 (2022).

In 1928–2016 the city was called Tsiurupynsk.
In 2016 Oleshky got back its historical name.
Occupied by Russian troops in February 2022

Was flooded after the Russians blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station - June 6, 2023
