The site of the British Embassy to the Republic of Korea.

The embassy provides consular services to British nationals as well as promoting UK interests in conjunction with the British Council.

This property, adjacent to the Deoksu Palace, was originally purchased by British interests after the 1st diplomatic treaty was negociated between the UK and Korea in 1882. It contains the offices of the British embassy & staff as well as the historic ambassadorial residence. The residence was completed in May 1892 at an estimated cost of £6,213. The gardens & lawn of the residence are frequently used for social events & special celebrations ranging from Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 to the recent royal wedding of Prince William & Catherine Middleton in 2011.
