Houston is the fourth-largest city in the U.S. and the largest city in the state of Texas. As of the 2010 US Census, the city has a population of 2,099,451 within an area of 600 square miles. It is the seat of Harris County and the economic center of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area, the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. with a population of 5.6 million.

Founded in 1836 and incorporated one year later, Houston is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for the Port of Houston, which ranks first in the country in international cargo and second in total cargo tonnage. Second only to New York City in Fortune 500 company headquarters, Houston is the home of the Texas Medical Center, which contains the world's largest concentration of research and healthcare institutions.

Nicknames for the city include: "Space City", "The Bayou City", "H-Town", "Clutch City", "City of Syrup", "Hustletown", and the "Energy Capital of the World"

  • Heared a lot and found great too, Sugar Land towne centre drive is nice place to visit often, specially weekend live bands, I love driving on its great intersections.
