Giz Galasi dam (Khoda Afarin Dam)

This was unfinished dam between then Soviet Union and Iran on their common border of Arax River.
As a joint project of Armenia, Artsakh and Iran this dam was completed and began to impound water in 2008. It was inaugurated in 2010. The irrigation works are still underway.
Azerbaijan and Iran signed agreement for Giz Galasi hydro-junctions and hydroelectric power plant on Araz River in Feb 2016.
