An educational institution of undergraduate and graduate status and the oldest serving university in Mongolia. The National University of Mongolia (NUM) hosts twelve schools and faculties in Ulan Bator, and runs branches in the Zavkhan and Orkhon Aimags. Approximately one third of the academically educated Mongolians have graduated from NUM.

Enrollment at the university is 12,000 undergrads and 2,000 graduate students as of 2006. The university was established October 5, 1942.
