First Canadian Centre is an office skyscraper in Downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It stands at 167 meters (548 ft) or 41 storeys tall. The skyscraper has a floor area of 48,275 m2 (519,627.8 sq ft) and was built in the international and late modernist architectural styles. The Bank of Montreal occupies most of the ground floor with a large retail bank branch. It was designed by Bregman + Hamann Architects, and was the tallest building in Calgary from its completion in 1982 until 1984. This was to have been the first of a two-towered complex, with the second tower having 64 floors. Plans for the taller tower were shelved due to a downturn in the local economy.
