Casa Zavalla (Heritage House) (Santa Rosa)

Philippines / Southern Tagalog / Santa Rosa / F. Gomez corner Anonuevo Streets, 708
 house, heritage

This heritage house was built during the Spanish period in 1888. It was originally used as a "camarin" or warehouse for unmilled rice (or palay).

In 1989, Arch. Mario Zavalla, a descendant of the original owner, started restoring the structure to its original charm and it now serves both as his personal residence and a repository of several artifacts that reveal a lot about the history of Sta. Rosa.

The house also serves as venue where several Sta. Rosa history enthusiasts regularly meet (in the form of "kapihan") to discuss ways to preserve Sta. Rosa's many historical heritages.
