The Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, was originally built as the Nassau County Courthouse. President Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone in 1900 and the building opened in 1902, designed by William B. Tubby. Murals were later executed for the second floor of the rotunda Robert Gaston Herbert of Sea Cliff during the 1930's. It served as the county seat until World War II.

Today, it houses the county's executive and legislative offices. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the building was restored in 2008 by John G. Waite Associates. The exterior was used a filming location for S2E18 of "Royal Pains" as Hank and his brother attend a trial at the fictional site of the New York Eastern District Federal Courthouse.

Comments

  • This is the Nassau County Legislative Building, not a court.
  • The cornerstone way put in place in 1898 by Governor Theodore Roosevelt. The building just went through a huge renovation and restoration completed in 2008.
