In terms of land area, at nearly 18,000 acres, it is the largest airport in Texas, the second largest in the United States, and fourth largest in the world with a ground area larger than the island of Manhattan. It is the nation's tenth busiest international gateway, behind Honolulu International Airport. The airport was recently named as "The Best Cargo Airport in the World" according to the second edition of a survey.
