The oldest part of this coffee processing facility was originally built in 1913 as a Ford Model T production plant, and in 1946, became home to General Foods' Maxwell House coffee roasting and packaging operation, famous for its neon "Good To The Last Drop" sign on the side of the 16-story coffee roaster building. In late 2006, Kraft Foods (then-parent company of Maxwell House) sold the plant to Maximus Coffee Group LP, and in March 2007, the Maxwell House neon brandings were removed. In mid-2014, the parent group of Maximus, ECOM Atlantic, renamed the company to Atlantic Coffee Solutions. Today, the plant still has decaffeination, roasting, and packaging operations. In April of 2018 Atlantic Coffee Solutions announced that it would be ceasing operations at this facility due to rising competition from the international coffee market, with the plant closing in fall 2018.
