In 1953 N&D Supermarkets opened a 4,000 sq. ft. store at 1349 Grand Marais Road West. By 1960 the store was expanded and the 16 store Yorktown Plaza was opened. Subsequent expansions increased the size of the grocery store to 35,000 sq. ft. Long a fixture of South Windsor, the N&D supermarket closed in the 1990s as a consequence of evolving retail practices.
The former N&D store is now occupied by Liquidation World and Plaza tenants include the National Bank and Home Hardware.
