Wilson Island and Light House

Wilson Island is a large Island with thick vegetation- South East of Button Islands. The establishment of a lighted beacon on Wilson Island was over due. It was during 1993-94 that the G.I. trestle was erected on the North-West shore of the island and the modern solar powered equipment from ‘Tide land’ of USA was installed over the trestle tower. The light was commissioned on 23rd March 1994. The lighthouse station is located on a small island on the north side of the Diligent Strait, which separates the Ritchies Archipelago from Middle Andaman Island. Accessible only by boat. Site status unknown. Admiralty F1202.66 NGA 26520.
