Holy Trinity Church Leicester (Leicester)

United Kingdom / England / Leicester / Turner Street

Located at the heart of the City of Leicester Holy Trinity is a diverse community with all ages and many nationalities. Sunday morning services attract many families and Sunday evenings many young adults and teenagers. Preaching is central. Worship is lively and varied.

Holy Trinity Church was originally built in 1838 to the design of Sidney Smirke. It was built at the expense of Frewen Turner of Cold Overton Hall, a man who is commemorated in the name of an adjacent street. Since then the church has been twice remodelled. First by Flint & Wickes in 1854 and again in 1871, when S S Teulon of London made major modifications. Teulon's work, which according to one renowned architect verged on the cult of ugliness, included applying a cladding of blue brick and stone as well as a raucous steeple flanked by two French pavilion roofs.
