Shurijo Castle Park (Naha)

Japan / Okinawa / Naha
 castle, park, interesting place

The main gate to Shuri Castle, called Shureimon, bears the inscription 'Land of Propriety'. The inscription tells a lot about Okinawa and its people and customs. Shuri Castle is unique in Japan in that it is not designed as a bastion, rather it is more a reception hall. Shuri Castle's design and bright crimson color reflects Okinawa's connections with China and other asian countries as a center of commerce and trade.
