This article is designed to work as a database of relevant and unsolved Bug Reports in the WikiMapia Forum. Below, there is a list of categories that include most of the bug reports in the forum. Under each category, there is a list of bug reports related to it. Clicking on any of them will open the article for the documentation of this bug. Each documentation should include a definition of the bug, some technical data about its occurrences, and a link to the forum post where the bug was firstly reported.
It is important to note that these articles for bug reports are not supposed to substitute the forum. The intention of these articles is to compile all the discussions made on forum and show a summarized version of each bug report, in an organized way.

[edit] Reporting a bug
Some information should be given to make it easy to track the bug and correct it. So, when reporting a bug in this WikiMapia Wiki system, we suggest to organize the infromation into sections.
At first, you should give basic information about the bug, explaining it a little better than it is explained in this article. Here we recommend to use 2 or 3 sentences to explains the bug. In the article specifci for this bug, you can write about 2 or 3 paragraphs to explain it better, exposing how the system is suposed to work in that situation you found a bug, which are the effects of having this bug, and so on.
Aftr that, you can start the sections of your bug report article. Some sections are strongly recommended:
- Occurrences: In this section, give examples of occurrences of this bug. In general, only 2 or 3 examples are sufficient, if no significant variations of the bug also have been found. When provinding links, open the place bugous place tag, before copyinf the address from your browser. If the bug has a temporary effect, i.e., it didn't leave anything wrong in the map, but it doesn't let you take some action, for example, you can describe a situation, explaining how one can repeat this bug. Techinical data, like system, browser, time, etc can be very useful in the description of the occurrence.
- How to bypass the bug: If the bug is just annoying, but you still know another way to make things happen properly, you can use this section to provide instruction one can follow to bypass the bug. It doesn't mean the bug is now corrected, but it's useful to know how one should act while the bug is not fixed.
- Forum link: This Wiki system of reporting bug reports is not supposed to substitute the forum Bug Reports section. So we recommend you to post the bug there first, and after some discussion about the bug, if there is an agreement it's really a bug, and not the way system is supposed to work, you can post it here. Of course, this wiki system can take benefit of the former forum discussion. So use this section to provide a link to the forum disccussion.
Another possible section is Suggestion, where you can give suggestions for admins about how WikiMapia should work after the correction of the bug, regarding the function where you found the bug.

[edit] Roads
[edit] Polygon
- Self-crossing polygon: Sometimes the polygon algorithm accepts crossing of polygon lines.
[edit] Address
- Existent roads don't show up when creating places: When creating a place tag, only nearby roads that are named in english are shown as options to enter address. In this way, users have to save a place tag without address and then reedit it, to get a correct list of nearby streets, in the language of the tag.
- Use address instead of title bug: This feature doesn't work, when we try to create a tag setting this option.
[edit] Category (Tags)
[edit] Photos
- Credits are not shown when enlarging a photo: Credits aren't shown when enlarging a photo of a place tag anymore.
[edit] Languages
[edit] History of a tag
- Rectangle changes by guests not shown in history: Changes on rectangle or polygon made by guests (unregistred users) are shown only if a registered user has changed it before.
- History Reverting: After seeing the former versions of a description, there is no way to revert it, just choosing to edit a former version, obligating user to retype or copy and paste text.
[edit] Watchlist
- Number of changes don't match: Sometimes, the number of changes that are shown in a watchlist doesn't match to the number of changes that are shown, when we open the watchlist.
[edit] Forum
- See the last post after sending a message: When we send a message in a topic with more than one page, we are redirected to the end of the first page. We are supposed to be redirected to the end of the discussion, our own post.
[edit] WikiMapia Wiki
- Impossible to log in: Some users can't log in into WikiMapia Wiki. This log in process is suposed to be automatic, with the same account used for WikiMapia (no need to create one more account). But even manualy, one can't log in. When one try, with his WikiMapia account data, receives a warning: "here is no user by the name 'username'. Check your spelling, or create a new account.".
[edit] Miscellaneous
Under this category, put these bug reports that are not related to anyone of those other ones above. If some bug reports seem to be related to a common category, but this category is not listed above, feel free to create it and reclassify these items under this new category.
- Wrong "Deleted from them" stats: The calculus of "deleted from them" stats is not correct.
- Number of places tags in cities: This number is stopped, but the number of places tags is growing day after day. It should be updated frequently.
- Cursor Drifting: Sometimes, when the mouse is dragged to browse the map, the cursor "flies" in one direction uncontrollably. It was once fixed, but is now present again.
