U.S. Route 211 / Business 17/29 (Broadview Avenue) (Warrenton, Virginia)
U.S. Route 211 is an east-west spur U.S. numbered highway in Virginia. It runs from I-81 and US-11 in New Market via Luray and Washington to Warrenton near US-29. It is designated as an arterial route and provides two important mountain crossings: New Market Gap over Massanutten and Thornton Gap over the Blue Ridge. It is one of only two highway crossings of Shenandoah National Park. Much of the road is four lane divided highway with three lanes in the mountainous sections. There are expressway bypasses of Luray and Washington, Va. It was part of the original Lee Highway from New York to San Francisco, designated as an auto trail in the 1920s. Until 1980, US-211 extended to Washington, DC along U.S. Route 29.
As Broadview Avenue, it overlaps U.S. Business Routes 17 and 29 on the old western bypass of downtown Warrenton.
U.S. Route 29 Business in Warrenton is a former route of U.S. Route 29 (a U.S. numbered highway running from Florida to Maryland), running from south of town to northeast of town. The road was originally a western bypass of Warrenton, replacing what is now U.S. Route 15 Business through downtown in the last 1930s. A new bypass to the east of the town was built in the late 1980s. The business continues to serve commercial areas on the to the south, west, and north of downtown.
