U.S. Route 15/17/29 (James Madison Highway)

U.S. Route 29 is a north-south U.S. numbered highway on the east coast of the United States. It runs from Pensacola, Florida to Ellicott City, Maryland, west of Baltimore. In Virginia it is a major arterial roadway connecting Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina, to Danville, Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Culpeper, Warrenton, Fairfax, Falls Church, and Arlington, into Washington, D.C. Much of the route is a divided highway, and bypasses many towns and cities, until the route reaches Interstate 66 when it becomes primarily a busy local route. When originally designated, it was promoted as the Seminole Trail, being an alternative route to Florida.
