(GRAND TRUNK Road, Jarnali Road (Pashto).In the 16th century, a Pashtun emperor Sher Shah Suri built this Road IN 5 Years from peshawer to kalkata. His intention was to link together the remote provinces of his vast empire for administrative and military reasons. The Sadak-e-Azam (Greatest Road). Under the British Govt: it was renamed as Grand Trunk Road.(GT Road) It link the eastern and western regions of the Indian subcontinent, running from Bengal, across north India, into Peshawar in Pakistan
From the Pakistan border the Grand Trunk Road continues north through Lahore via Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock District and Nowshera and finally runs into Peshawar Pakistan.
The total length is 2,500 km

AH 1:- AH1 (Asian Highway)is the longest route of the Asian Highway Network(AH1-AH87), running (20,557km) from Tokyo, Japan via Korea, China, Southeast Asia and India to the border between Iran, Turkey and Bulgaria west of Istanbul. the GT Road is a part of AH 1.
