Wikimapia was launched at 24 of May in 2006 by two Russian Internet entrepreneurs Alexandre Koriakine and Evgeniy Saveliev, inspired by the idea of creating a site, where wiki philosophy would be combined with an online map.
We keep developing Wikimapia every day and we are very pleased to see that our efforts result in growth of Wikimapia popularity. Today our team is developing a mobile version of the project and testing new engine. We look forward to see Wikimapia content and interface being improved even more and our project to prosper and embody our idea of describing the whole World.
