Hello mods,
I would be much obliged if you would delete this place -> [url:1dd9ui4b]http://wikimapia.org/2459546/abhay-geete-s-house[/url:1dd9ui4b]
This is my house. I don't know how or why it is marked in wikimapia. It shows up in google results. I am unable to delete it since I am a new user. I created this account just to request deletion.
Your kind attention to this matter would be much appreciated. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> |

I need help now to delete a posted location. Someone unknown to me posted my private home as a public place. It is now subject to vandalism. I am new to Wikimapia, as I had to sign up to try to remove my home from your maps. Please delete this immediately, or clearly tell me how. In your "support" section, most of the deletion posts are 5-7 years old. I followed all the links and tools, but cannot find the "delete place" choice on this place's menu.

| It does not make any difference in such a minute time gap. Because both were same (the deleted tag was not superior to the one not deleted as far the content is concerned). Moderators generally use best judgement to decide in such circumstances which to kept. Rule is to keep the older objects and delete the newer ones (transfer all contents to the older one). Why is this rule ? because user should get credit of the objects placed first. In this case, the 'guest' is concerned and both his object is same - no object is superior to other - he is still credited for creating it. Moreover the deleted one contained personal information (name and number) in the description so it is not bad that it was removed. |

Hello,
I live in one of the apartments below this 'landmark' posted to your site - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/20297067/The-Spiderpool">wikimapia.org/20297067/The-Spiderpool<!-- m -->
And unfortunately I have had the experience of seeing people moving through my backyard supposedly trying to reach it.
Only after talking to neighbors did I come across your website and found someone was inconsiderate enough to post GPS coordinates to the location and this has encouraged people to feel as if my backyard is fair game.
I've shared this with the owners and hope they make it more difficult for anyone to trespass, but I hope you would remove the location and GPS coordinates so that other would be explorers won't be encouraged to try to find the wall. Despite the fact it's definitely a scary experience to be alone and see strangers walking in your backyard. These people are also traipsing through my garden, destroying plants and vegetables.
I am scared of further vandalism to my property. And do like the thought of having to confront anyone snooping around.
I hope to hear from you and have this resolved as quickly as possible.
Regards, J |

Unfortunately Josie, the object is an acceptable item. We can change the item to encourage people NOT to trespass on private property but we are not under obligation to remove it. As far as I can see, there is not info telling people how or where to go to get to it!
If there are other places online giving directions, GPS coordinates, etc, you will need to take it up with them. |

While I empathize with your alleged predicament, It would be safe to say that tourist interest in this site has been going on for decades. With the advent of the internet, information sharing has made the world a bit smaller and, there are many sites to retrieve information on the "Spiderpool". I doubt other websites such as Yahoo, (who has a Group page dedicated to information sharing on the Spiderpool mural) or even YouTube, who has videos posted on getting to the site, ( [url:2lxndxx9]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7SxjIWWEZs[/url:2lxndxx9] ), are going to go away anytime soon.
Four years ago, the tag was edited to state, "[b:2lxndxx9]The site is located on private property and has been tagged in the interest of "describing the world" rather than as an encouragement to trespass. The below URLs provide more information but contain images that are not safe for viewing at work. [/b:2lxndxx9]
"[i:2lxndxx9]I am scared of further vandalism to my property. And do [sic] like the thought of having to confront anyone snooping around.[/i:2lxndxx9]" That sounds like a matter for the Los Angeles Police Department. |

Seafordian and Phiz,
You do list GPS coordinates. I do not understand why giving GPS coordinates are needed to pinpoint this location. It is on private property and does encourage people to find it by any means necessary.
I have searched online, reading more about the house than I care to and have not found any other story online that gives the location, which is why I am here pleading with you to please remove the GPS coordinates.
I don't think anyone willing to vandalize private property is going to have the wherewithal to comply with your footnote of 'describing the world'. Also as someone who has lived in this neighborhood for more than 30 years, I can assure you the recent trespassing is a direct result of this article.
I will talk to the neighboring homes and god forbid anything happen to any of us, this will be a source to which I will underline to have likely spawned the incident.
It's very sad you feel some sort of integrity in keeping something listed that clearly promotes illegal activities. |

[quote:2y7qjzd9]You do list GPS coordinates.[/quote:2y7qjzd9]
Nobody here has the ability to add or remove GPS coordinates on a tag. Those are added automatically.
[quote:2y7qjzd9]have not found any other story online that gives the location[/quote:2y7qjzd9]
There was one in the past that was quite detailed, including not only photos of the site but also of the surrounding buildings. This location has been "known," Internet-wise, since 2004--well before the tag in question was added--and visited by trespassers well before you showed up; the house was burned in a fire set by vandals in 1947. And who knows who else has shown up in the intervening years.
[quote:2y7qjzd9]I can assure you the recent trespassing is a direct result of this article.[/quote:2y7qjzd9]
Really? Are you conducting exit interviews with these people? How do you know this to be true? I think this is more likely a case of confirmation bias (you see evidence of one visitor, so now you are on the lookout and "see" them more often) because unless this is you 24/7:
[img:2y7qjzd9]http://nofilmschool.com/sites/default/files/uploads/2014/07/Rear-Window-pic-2.jpg[/img:2y7qjzd9]
there is no way for you to know the precise number of people who visit the site.
[quote:2y7qjzd9]god forbid anything happen to any of us, this will be a source to which I will underline to have likely spawned the incident.[/quote:2y7qjzd9]
Get off the cross, honey, we need the wood.
You know how you solve this problem? You call the POLICE every time you see a trespasser and put up barriers to keep them out of the garden instead of coming to this site with overwrought, hand-wringing appeals to emotion and deleting valid tags. |

| Requesting the removal of the site location in open forum may have some [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect:1mt9gsmw]unintended consequence[/url:1mt9gsmw]. There seems to be no personal property tagged nearby except this mural. This place cannot be deleted from Wikimapia however there are many other solutions which can be used to protect the property. |

Well [b:303aptb4][u:303aptb4]I[/u:303aptb4][/b:303aptb4] am not the one who listed the information so..........................second, phiz is correct in asserting that this place has been there for years LONGER than this site has existed and that certainly people have been spreading the knowledge of how to get to it for decades. You can't blame the internet for an issue. Even if the internet did NOT exist, you'd still have people finding their way there to trample on your private property...
Lastly, we are NOT promoting "illegal activities"...to do that we would have to actually write in our object "please go here and traipse all over private property". [b:303aptb4][color=#FF0000:303aptb4]By providing a disclaimer we have automatically absolved this website of any wrongdoing[/color:303aptb4][/b:303aptb4]. Any good lawyer will defend that and most certainly win........you mention "GPS coordinates". I don't see any written in the tag (and if any appear, that is caused by Google, not us).........if your problem is with another "weblink" (perhaps one being included in the tag), you should take that up with that website, not this one!
Good day. |

And just to help you out Josie...................this location not that far from you is also in an area that tourist foot traffic has dramatically increased in recent years for people wanting to see the Hollywood Sign...in fact, it was on the national news not that long ago that people were coming to this area by the 1000s, parking and walking up Mount Lee to the sign and people in this neighborhood were NOT happy about it...you didn't see anyone coming here blaming this site for all that tourist traffic in this neighborhood...so blaming this website would be futile at best <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) --> |

Hi,
Can somebody help me in this?
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=29.528210&lon=75.030098&z=13&m=b">wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=29.52 ... 8&z=13&m=b<!-- m -->
Open this link. At the centre of the page, near the red dot, word Sirsa is followed by a word in a different language. I want to remove that word. First of all that word is written wrongly. Secondly that language is spoken only by a few.
How can I do it?
Thanks in advance |

Is the red dot really from Google? How come in the area, when you switch to Google Map view, the title is just named "Sirsa" and it is in located slightly to the left? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=29.544190&lon=75.042973&z=13&m=m">wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=29.54 ... 3&z=13&m=m<!-- m -->
I think this is a bug in Wikimapia that wasn't fixed long ago. I notice this bug occurs in old (rectangle) places that had a polygon added only later.
This place (La Trinidad) also has more or less the same issue: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=16.429458&lon=120.570059&z=15&m=w">wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=16.42 ... 9&z=15&m=w<!-- m -->
The red dot should be further northeast, but it is within another adjacent city's borders. Whatever I do, whether I adjust the polygon or delete then re-enter some categories with red dot display functions ([town], [capital city], etc..), I could not get the red dot to be at this location (which is more or less the center of the tag): <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=16.453496&lon=120.587525&z=15&m=w">wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=16.45 ... 5&z=15&m=w<!-- m --> The only thing I could do is to hide the title by putting [do not draw title]. For the Sirsa tag, [draw only border] has an effect, but for some reason, the title is not hidden even if [do not draw title] is added. |

| In your first and third link, I cannot see a red dot but I can see a red dot in your second link. There was an issue (perhaps there still is) where some locations had red dots which did not belong to tags and weren't editable. I wonder if these places with uneditable dots are "hardcoded" into Wikimapia's data overlay layer? |

[quote:1cwag0j2]In your first and third link, I cannot see a red dot[/quote:1cwag0j2] (The first link was referring to the [i:1cwag0j2]Sirsa City[/i:1cwag0j2] tag as previously posted by bubnilka). The third link shows the supposed (correct) location of the '[i:1cwag0j2]La Trinidad[/i:1cwag0j2]' tag.
Here is the link to the 'La Trinidad' tag: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=16.468353&lon=120.597267&z=12&m=w&tag=44786">wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=16.46 ... &tag=44786<!-- m --> By default, adding [town] or [city] places a red dot at the center of the tag's outline (at least for new {not rectangle} places, as far as I know). In this case however, the title and the red dot are located at the southwest of the outline and cannot be placed at the center. Additionally, the title is still named [i:1cwag0j2]'La Trinidad, Benguet[/i:1cwag0j2]' even though the tag's title is only '[i:1cwag0j2]La Trinidad[/i:1cwag0j2]'.
[quote:1cwag0j2]I wonder if these places with uneditable dots are "hardcoded" into Wikimapia's data overlay layer?[/quote:1cwag0j2] Sadly, I think that might be the case.. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( --> |

But I see the strange situation - in the tag of Sirsa City all revisions do show exactly this double name...
Maybe it was a bug in the old "parent" (Google?) name: World / India / Haryana / [b:25nm80w7][color=#0040BF:25nm80w7]Sirsa[/color:25nm80w7][/b:25nm80w7] (29°31'48"N 75°1'48"E) , which users cannot correct, and which we see now as "Sirsa" in the string above (by my previous link of Sirsa City): India / Haryana / [b:25nm80w7][color=#0040BF:25nm80w7]Sirsa[/color:25nm80w7][/b:25nm80w7] / Sirsa City, Haryana, India
Maybe I'm not right, but isn't this "Sirsa" a Google name? Or the WM name, which was placed to the [b:25nm80w7][i:25nm80w7]closed[/i:25nm80w7][/b:25nm80w7] database?.. Maybe we see now old incorrect version of this name on the map?.. |

Al Manara has several jewellery stores all over Abu Dhabi and used to have one in a building close by, but never in Amwaj Tower.

What level do you need to obtain to be able to delete items?
Is this forum the new request deletion? Why did we do away with deleting from the map and an authorized user verifying it?
How do we go about having an admin up our status?
Thank you for any info.

Hey Guys, can someone delete our store JJ & J Print Center, located inside the building Eusebio Araced IV, It seems we can't delete it ourselves due to "Low Level"? the link is here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=10.664058&lon=122.944098&z=18&m=b&show=/30447070/JJ-J-Print-center">wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=10.66 ... int-center<!-- m -->
