The URL photo upload appears to be failing from https sites. In the new uploader it just fails and in the old new uploader it just uploads some data blob that fails to display as an image. You can see an example here.

You can correct your photos - make them less than 2 Mb, and upload them. |

My opinion is:
1. If we can overcome a bug until it will be fixed, we can do it - why not?..
2. 2 Mb images should not necessarily have poor quality (as default), all depends on photographer (and possible corrections).

Today an old bug came back - all photos (even less 2 Mb) cannot be uploaded normally.
Moreover, even 'error photos' have wrong time stamps and are not visible in the user stats...
Here two photos, which were uploaded yesterday and deleted now, look as uploaded 7 months ago:

Yup, same here. Defined a new place and added three photos.
Looked to load normally, but only got placeholders (outlined box with little arrows emanating from the center going out) in place of the pictures. Pictures don't show up under stats either. Photos sure are the weakest link on this site. |

BTW, uploaded photos are shown when we click on "show full-size file".
For example. My recently added photo actually uploaded (see link below), but there's no preview for it at the object window (and my photo's contribution didn't appear in the watchlist).

You know a problem and how to overcome it.
If you do not want to compress/resize photos less 2 Mb, you will not upload them untill something will change next time...
