Yes, I think [place with historical importance] is a fairly good description for the parent category.

I request to merge the category kirana store (54) in grocery / neigbourhood grocery store as this is hindi translation of it and deletion of category.
And the category can be translated in hindi as "[b:3clq5ji1]किराने की दुकान[/b:3clq5ji1]"

Hi i was looking at the category "dining and leisure"
I found the Synonyms as "Pietūs ir laisvalaikis"
Which i found as lithuanian language translation of the word so that must be removed from synonyms and added to the language translation.
And i found a tranlation in language shortname "eu" as "o". I was unable to find the language but i dont think that its correct.
Please do as needful

Thanks for spotting that. We'll fix the 'Lithuanian' issue in a while.

[eu] is Basque and yes, "o" is almost certainly not correct. We'll fix this too as soon as I get a response from someone who speaks Basque. (I've already sent a PM.)

Ayurveda is a branch of traditional medicine widely practiced in India. There are many colleges all over the country training students to become ayurvedic doctors. However there isn't a category for a ayurvedic college.

IMO Category [medical / dental college] is more suitable for them instead of [ayurvedic medicine] category.
As far as number of ayurvedic college there are nearly 280 colleges in india according to this website <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.medindia.net/education/ayurveda_colleges.asp?state=">www.medindia.net/education/ayurv ... asp?state=<!-- m -->

Now, if you want an [ayurvedic college] category, would you please give me one place tag to put the first category on? And ps: after I've created the category I will expect you to find some of these other tags and add the category to them as well. Perhaps not all 280, but "some".

The category "ayurvedic medicine" will be more suitable for the many outlets that exlusively retail ayurvedic medicine. When one speaks of a medical/dental college in India one will almost always mean the ones that teach allopathic medicine. When referring to the ones that teach "ayurveda" the term ayurveda will always be mentioned. The ayurvedic medical degree is called a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medical Science (BAMS) and is distinct from the allopathic medical degree MBBS. I can think of two colleges that I could mark first off, one being this one here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=26.2046727&;lon=84.3494866&z=18&l=0&m=b&show=/9927069/Ayurvedic-College">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=26.204672 ... ic-College<!-- m -->

Hello!
I have a question about parent and child categories. I'm writing about it because different users has a different opinion on this matter and I want to know what is right.
What categories must be assigned to object: only child categories or parent and child categories?
For example, when I edit information about thermal or nuclear power plant, I must assign only a category "nuclear power plant" / "thermal power station" or all categories (parent and child) "electricity, power station, electric power, nuclear power plant".
When for object assigned only parent category ("power station" for example), can I add a child category ("nuclear power plant") and delete a parent category?

IMO you must add single category which fits best with the place.
If you add nuclear power plant, then it describes all other meaning.

When you create a new object, if there is a child category that properly describes your object, then you only need to add the child category. All its parent categories are [u:3shh7fl3]implied[/u:3shh7fl3], so you do not need to and should not specify them.
If you find an existing object with only a parent category then it is fine to add a more specific child category and remove the parent.
If you find an existing object with both the parent and child categories, it is 'ok' to remove the parent, but doing so doesn't change anything about the object (removing it doesn't make it any more or less correct), so I wouldn't bother.

I propose creation a category dhaba(Hindi=ढाबा). Dhaba are roadside reastaurent which are popular in india. This are unique from reastaurents in many ways.
They use to serve food in cot(charpayi), are usually in highways, have big parking areas, where long distance traveller usually trucks park and have food.
Here is the wikipedia entry for the place <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhaba">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhaba<;!-- m -->
Here are details which can be used
1. Category Name(en) : Dhaba
2. Hierarchy Under : Restaurent
3. Description : Dhaba are roadside restaurants which are popular in India. Dhabas are situated at highways, near petrol pump. They have big parking areas as they are used mostly by truck drives for parking. Dhaba's serve food on cot (Charpai) with support of a wooden board.
4. Wikipedia Entry- <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhaba">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhaba<;!-- m -->

Could the category "condominium" be made a sub-category of "apartment building" or at the least of "apartment complex" please
here is an example which it would be beneficial were it show up in a search for apartment building
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=40.7076978&;lon=-74.0080798&z=17&l=0&m=w&tag=2304&show=/27137192/114-Fulton-Street">wikimapia.org/#lat=40.7076978&;lo ... ton-Street<!-- m -->
and I cannot think of any realistic or practical examples where the term would be inaccurate outside of this application.

My dictionary offers two meanings: 1) an "inn" or "caravansary", and 2) a "pillared hall".

We already have a [caravanserai - khan] category, although I have no idea what the "khan" part is supposed to be. Many of these are in Turkey. My guess would be that these could be described as "cheap lodging for travellers", but that would be an awful name for a category!

Having said that, I haven't looked at enough of the actual [choultry] places to form an opinion of what these are in reality. Are they "lodging" or are they "halls"? If I had to guess, I'd guess it's a mixture of both - since double-meaning words are almost always a mixture. <!-- s:cry: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt=":cry:" title="Crying or Very Sad" /><!-- s:cry: --> And if it is a mixture, then we probably need two categories. But first we need to decide what kinds of places we are trying to describe and to pick some (better?) category words for them. Perhaps the categories even already exist - with some other words??

According to Wikipedia and other encyclopaedic sites, a "khan" is an inn for travelers, built around a central courtyard. I think it would be better to remove the name from the title and append it as a synonym like [khan (caravanserai)] so that we can avoid the category being used as a surname, especially in the Indo-Pak region.

"condominium" as a sub-category of "apartment building" now seems fine.
Here is an [url=http://old.wikimapia.org/#lat=40.7204347&lon=-74.0091946&z=17&l=0&m=w&tag=44865:2hwev7cs]example[/url:2hwev7cs]

However, something seems to have gone wrong and [water supply treatment plant] is now a child of [wastewater treatment plant]. If someone could fix that remaining issue, that'd be great.

Please review the hierarchy of Category [tuberculosis] <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="old.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.975&;lon=72.8258&z=10&l=0&m=b&show=/object/category/?type=view&id=39013&lng=0&tab=hierarchy">old.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.975&;lo ... =hierarchy<!-- m -->
Child of [tuberculosis] is [url=http://old.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.975&lon=72.8258&z=10&l=0&m=b&show=/object/category/?type=view&id=51045&lng=0&tab=main:3ixc9oym][TB dispensary][/url:3ixc9oym]
However, there is some problem which needs solution
1. When filtering for 'TB' - [TB dispensary] never came up from the drop down menu.
2. [tuberculosis] has nearly all objects which are actually 'tuberculosis hospital'
3. there is no category called tuberculosis hospital / TB Hospital
For simplification - in my view [tuberculosis] should be renamed as [ tuberculosis hospital ] and added as child of [hospital]. Further [ TB dispensary ] should be removed as a child of [tuberculosis] as it is already child of [url=http://old.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.975&lon=72.8258&z=10&l=0&m=b&show=/object/category/?type=view&id=51039&lng=0&tab=hierarchy:3ixc9oym][dispensary (specialized medical facility) ][/url:3ixc9oym] which is russia specific as written in description.
My request to category moderators to please provide with necessary solution soon.

Depends on what they do at that location. Looks like a maintenance yard and some offices.
[electric grid company]??
