| It's interesting. You may add something more about benefits of registration. Also, I think that it would be great to tell people about the Community :) |

Hi stcraftie59, I am not computer minded, and I am not a secretary either. I am a counsellor and I do care about people's feelings. But I don't see anything obviously wrong with your description. I think as long as people can understand the basic information they will have a wonderful experience with Wikimapia. I have learned so much by just coming into the forum. I am sure there are plenty forum users probably can give you better advice, but I say 'Go for it'. Regards, Teresa |

"Help" is indeed needed. Matt Jones wrote a bunch of stuff (I haven't checked what he's done lately). Now stcraftie59 is writing a help doc. And Brad is creating a pbwiki. Once upon a time I made some suggestions for what I'd like to see added to the FAQ. There are all kinds of calls for help in this forum. Features are being added here periodically; often without any documentation. Yes I know real programmers don't write documentation, but accurate documentation is actually a good thing folks! We are wasting resources by doing stuff piecemeal like this.
I worry that the developers are now spending too much time developing forum features, instead of actually working on Wikimapia.
What I would like to see, in addition to Wikimapia features, are two main things: 1) an improved FAQ (with more details and suggestions), 2) improved forum features (a better structure mostly, and I do not know exactly what "better" would be; I only know that what we have now seems too chaotic), it is quite difficult to find stuff here now; the ideas are scattered everywhere and I see ideas put up for consideration, but rarely is there any conclusion indicating that there was agreement on anything.
Brad suggested we should move the forum somewhere else. I think that's an excellent idea, IF there is someplace that is suitable (and I do not know where that would be). Why ask the developers to reinvent the wheel, if there is already a suitable wheel somewhere else? It really does not make a lot of sense (to me) to stick with this one just because we've got used to it. |

Not my idea at all! I am working on a document, not re-writing the history of WikiMapia.

Y'all are missing the main point. This is not for the public, just for friends. |

I did understand that. What I was trying to suggest was that if the publicly available information was more accessible/user friendly then there'd be no need for anyone to do their own. |

| Hello all, I am having problems to access all functions in wikimapia. My account was limited for 3 days and is back to normal as per my profile status since day before yesterday. But from then, while clicking on any item in the menu, a wikimapia popup window says: "You can't use this feature because you are limited". Other moderators say my account is not limited now. Kindly help to solve the problem. |

[b:3uw9n55k]Hello ngkimpo[/b:3uw9n55k]
Welcome to the forum.
1. If you want to save the map location visible at your screen, you may book mark that page in your browser options. Next time, when you will open that book marked page, Wikimapia will show the book marked location.
2. If you want to save the visible map screen as JPEG file, press Alt+Print Screen buttons on keyboard. The active window will be copied on clip board. Paste it into paint brush or any other picture editing software and save as JPEG file.
3. As of HELP button is concerned, it is the most requested feature and is under development as per response by the developers. Meanwhile, you may use 'User Guide' at the following link.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/wiki/User_Guide">wikimapia.org/wiki/User_Guide<!-- m -->
May be some other user may provide you still better help. |
